Why is the smart contract migration necessary?
The migration introduces significant improvements: EIP-4844 blob support for 40% gas reduction, ERC-4626 vault standard for better composability, optimized reward distribution via Merkle proofs, and native integration with DKG V8 paranets. The legacy contracts will remain functional but won't receive protocol upgrades.
Will I lose my staking rewards during migration?
No, you will not lose any rewards. The migration process is designed to be seamless, and your accrued rewards will be preserved. You'll continue earning rewards throughout the migration process with no interruption.
How long does the migration process take?
The migration requires 1-2 transactions depending on your chain: an approval tx (if needed) and the migration tx itself. On NeuroWeb expect ~12 second finality, Gnosis ~5 seconds, and Base ~2 seconds. Total time including wallet signing is typically under 3 minutes.
What happens if I don't migrate before the deadline?
After the deadline, the old contracts will continue to function but won't receive new features or optimizations. We strongly recommend migrating before the deadline to ensure you benefit from improved rewards distribution and reduced gas costs.
Which chains are supported for migration?
Migration is supported on all chains where OriginTrail operates: NeuroWeb (formerly OriginTrail Parachain), Gnosis Chain, and Base. The process is identical across all chains.
